We offer four full day tours, each designed to showcase the best of Kangaroo Island, with a passionate local guide giving fascinating insight into the elements of life on Kangaroo Island, including wildlife, landscapes, fire ecology, natural history, food & wine, arts and culture.

Looking for our multi day tours?

This full day tour is our signature Kangaroo Island experience which combines a range of wildlife encounters, some north and south coast landscapes, and an elegant barbecue at a private camp in the bush.

This full day tour complements our Island Life tour with a focus on the wilderness of Flinders Chase National Park, a series of wildlife encounters, an elegant picnic lunch and explores some of the most iconic coastal scenery of Kangaroo Island.

Our new Fine Flavours tour takes guests to taste the best local flavours Kangaroo Island has to offer – from fresh oysters to pure Ligurian honey to award-winning wine and spirits!

Explore Kangaroo Island’s stunning east end – featuring spectacular coastlines, untouched wilderness, wildlife in the wild plus a visit to one of Kangaroo Island’s best cellar doors.

All of our small group and private tours include:
  • Home-baked traditional Australian treats with a selection of hot beverages
  • Elegant alfresco lunch set in the bush with a choice of local wines, beer, soft drinks and spring water
  • Access to field guides, binoculars and maps
  • All necessary National Parks admission fees

There are two ways to get to Kangaroo Island – by air and by sea. There are daily flights with Regional Express, several flights (changing seasonally) per week with Qantaslink and some travellers come by private air charter. By sea, there are two operators, Kangaroo Island Sealink (daily vehicle and passenger service) and Kangaroo Island Connect (daily passenger-only service), both which operate between Cape Jervis (a two-hour drive from Adelaide) and Penneshaw on the east end of the Island. Cruise ships include short-day shore excursions (October through April) however, there is a reasonable risk (10% of scheduled arrivals) of cancellation of landings due to wind impacting tender operations.

Share tours are those where you will share your day with a small group. It means that the itinerary is set.

Private tours allow you or your group to tour by yourself and the opportunity to design an experience that suits your interests.

A higher price is charged for a private tour for small numbers, but it can be cheaper if you are travelling with a group of 6 or more people.

Depending upon logistics on the day, we collect guests from accommodations and/or the airport.

Accommodation pick-ups are around 9.00 am and the airport by 10.00 am.

At the end of the day, we connect with departure flights and a 6.00 pm check-in.

We have a maximum of 3 pick-ups per guest per tour ie your own location plus a maximum of 2 others.

Kangaroo Island is a year-round destination with a Mediterranean climate.

Our summer (Dec – Feb) is generally warm to hot and dry and winter (Jun – Aug) is cool and mild and this is when we get most of our rainfall.

Our shoulder seasons of Autumn (Mar – May) and Spring (Sep – Nov) can be a real mix of Summer or Winter conditions.

The landscape changes dramatically from season to season, particularly in our farming country. From cured golden grass in Summer to as green as Ireland midyear in our Winter and Spring.

Regardless of the time of year, we recommend dressing in layers as it can be cold on the coast and warmer in the interior. We rarely get frost and snow is unknown but like many islands, it is the windchill which often makes it feel colder than the air temperature indicates.

Yes, we can; however, it is an additional service and not included in our usual packages. Most people find it quite convenient to get a taxi.

We have our own Chef who prides himself on providing the same high-level dining regardless of your requirements. We regularly provide vegan, no red meat, low fat, gluten-free and kosher-compatible meals. What is critical is clearly communicating your needs in advance – once we are out in the bush, we are very limited in catering for a special dietary need on the spot!

Clarity is imperative – ‘vegetarian’ is meaningless – we need to know: eggs yes/no, dairy yes/no, fish yes/no and so on.

If you are ‘flexitarian’ then make your mind up in advance what you need on tour – we do not waste great food by catering ‘just in case’.

Exceptional Kangaroo Island is a family-owned business.

We (Craig and Janet Wickham) are long-time residents of the Island with two adult children who often work in the business.

We have a passion for sharing the Island with guests and, together with our small but experienced holiday planning team and enthusiastic guides, it is our job to connect you with the best Kangaroo Island offers.
