Ecopia Retreat comprises two contemporary villas which are purpose-built with a high standard of amenity to the best passive solar design. The villas are completely ‘off-grid’ being solar powered and having rainwater harvesting and self-contained waste-water treatment.
Construction includes locally-sourced rammed earth walls and double-glazed windows making them high thermal mass and achieving maximum energy efficiency.
The villas are well-spaced on the extensive property giving a great sense of solitude. Owners Yael and Rob live close-by and are only a phone-call away.
Ecopia is a private nature reserve high up in the Eleanor River valley and it provides habitat for a wide range of plants and animals. Guests can roam across the property exploring the open spaces and really getting in touch with nature. Despite being isolated you can still be connected with complementary wifi.
The villas have a King double bed and there is room for a rollaway for a third guest if required. The villa is open plan consisting of a bedroom, living area and self-contained kitchen and dining space. The spacious and elegant bathroom is a separate space off this living area. We offer this on a full-board basis with hosts providing dinners and breakfast provisions.
Ecopia is situated north of Seal Bay part way up the central plateau and is about 30 minutes drive from the airport. Due to its’ isolation from other accommodation venues touring is on a private basis only unless guests are self-driving in which case they can meet our tours at the Kingscote Airport. Its’ isolation makes for amazing star gazing on clear nights.
