Shearing Shed Dinner. Exceptional Kangaroo Island Events.


Rustic shearing shed pop-up dinner venue in Cygnet River 10 minutes drive from Kingscote and 20 minutes drive from American River. The shearing shed has not been used for its’ original purpose for 20+ years but it has retained enough infrastructure and character to give great atmosphere. Native flowers and foliage decorate the venue, supplemented by candlelight. Dinners can be licensed under the Exceptional Kangaroo Island Special Circumstances Liquor License.

Wood-fired Pizza Oven. Exceptional Kangaroo Island Events.


Hosted at the home of Craig and Janet Wickham, owners of Exceptional Kangaroo Island. Their home is set on 7 acres in the Cygnet River valley and they have an extensive deck surrounded by gardens and looking out into the red-gum forests of the floodplain. Lunch or dinner is home-made pizza made in the traditional Napoli-style in a vaulted brick oven with pizza cooked right on the brick hearth

Beach Seafood Barbecue (BBQ). Exceptional Kangaroo Island Events.


Enjoy one of Kangaroo Island’s favourite fish cooked on a barbecue with a splash of white wine, and lemon, served with halloumi, local sour-dough roll and a fresh garden salad. This hosted lunch event can take place at a range of locations, including:

  • The home of Craig and Janet Wickham on Duck Lagoon Road in Cygnet River, 10 minutes from Kingscote and 20 minutes from American River
  • At a private bush camp on Cygnet Park, a private wildlife conservation area, just west of Duck Lagoon
  • At a private bush camp on ‘Ellamatta’ sheep stud, on Stokes Bay Road
  • On Emu Bay Beach with a shade marquee


In addition to the world-class wildlife encounters and diverse landscapes which are central to any visit to Kangaroo Island, our staff use their excellent contacts for behind the scenes experiences which link directly with the interests of our guests.
